Overtures introduce official business to the Convention. Congregations, circuit forums, official District conferences, and District commissions, committees, and Board of Directors are encouraged to submit overtures to the convention on behalf of the ministry that we do together as a Synod, in our District, and internationally.
All overtures must be submitted to the District Office by January 27, 2021. Having overtures in the office before this date allows time to better form the needed number of floor committees to work with overtures being submitted to the Convention. Overtures received after this date will be reviewed by a committee to determine if they shall be accepted for Convention consideration.
Overture Submission Process
An electronic overture template is available to assist in submitting overtures in a uniform manner.
Please note that two copies of any overture must be submitted:
- One paper copy of the overture must be signed and mailed to the District office, following the instructions on the template document.
- A second copy in the form of a Word document must be sent as an email attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your overture will not be considered complete until both copies have been received.
